The answer to the question is strictly based on his/her personal opinion regarding IT sector. But to me,it is not advisable for non IT students going into IT companies.Though we have sufficient knowledge of IT sector still it is not gud as the work hours are high.Above all,in our core side if we do a job then we can have a kind of self satisfaction.Even though the salaries offered by core companies are less compared to offered by IT companies.

sasta upay hamesha kaargar nahin hota dost ! Wat would we do if we find all ATM's crashed one day, whole internet blocked or mobile services messed up ! non - tech ITians may surely lead us to these conditions. a small example may be seen as our content keeper. M sure the way it blocked the sites was designed by a non tech person. :x :P

well it depends! if u gotta low cg and have cupidity then u can go for it... still I wd say core job is better as money is not everything. Try to have a bit exposure to IT field before making a final decision..they pay u more money cz u have to eat ur brain out to get all d logic in working condition. Moreover, if u join core, u'll always have the option to switch over to IT section, but not vice versa.

it is good in terms of monetary benefits, but i personally feel dat its a waste of precious time studying sumthin for 4 years nd then not pursuing it, + it is a sort of setback to d core industries, means a lack of efficient manpower in d other sectors....

personally saying its just a wastage of ur talent & time, bcoz u spent 4 yrs of ur precious life in doing studying non-IT subs. & end up taking up an IT industry...but then if 1 can do better in IT feild irrespective of its branch of study then it does not matter much........for example Mr. N.R Narayana Murthy.
