Recently, the CampusLynx software was introduced in our campus. Although aimed at making the Online Subject Registration Process smoother, it did almost the opposite. I would like to have your views as to what are thoughts about this software and what should be done to improve it.

Well, for branch changers it was a nightmare because we had to run around again to update our branch. Apart from that, the elective selection is poorly-planned, which is apparent when you try to send Option 5 to the 10th position. REGOL was much better.
And with the brand new registration process of printing six cards, we've just returned to square one.

True. Campus Lynx hasn't helped much. Actually, it has made the situation worse! The website is very poor in quality. It is not even able to take load during registration. Online registration was introduced to make the process of registration easy and Campus Lynx has made it more complicated!

And apart from that the institute is shelling out chunks of money to the private firm that posseses the tender of the campus lynx. Also in academic section for the UG MR dinesh is a one man army when it comes to trouble shooting , the others are just collecting their paycheck which means the entire workload falls on one person. My question is if the students of IIT are selected through such stringent entry conditions , the faculties are also selected through an elimination process why isnt the same rule valid for the clerical department. I understand there are constraints as to the human resource available in a small town like Roorkee. But at least the human resource can be trained into a group of skilled laborers to increase the work output. There is still much to change as we enter the second decade of IIT roorkee.

On that note, has anybody else noticed that one particular member of the UG Section staff (I shall not take names), who asks us to come back after a week for anything under the sun, is perpetually on facebook?

Mr Agarwal ,
You are making it sound bad. How many classes have you attended with full attention. i have no problems with people playing games as long as my work is done. The thing is database management is a pretty bad job. One needs to clear his head once in a while. I would rather have a cheerful workethan a morose worker.

The Campuslynx page is slow in loading, it has excessive flash content that makes it very 'heavy' on the server. The server itself becomes overloaded during regol. And it is not compatible with all browsers.
